HON. BARR. RAHEEM ADEBAYO SHITTU

POLITICS

Hon. Bayo Shittu passed out of the school in 1973. He graduated from University of Ife with LL.B in 1979 and 1983.  He was a member, Oyo State House of Assembly between 1979 and 1983. Hon Bayo Shittu was Honorable Commissioner for Home affairs, Information and Culture in 1983 and Attorney General and Commission for Justice in 2007, both in Oyo State. He was honoured with PhD (Honon’ causa) of the International University, Cotonou, Benin Republic. He rose to become the Honourable Minister of Communications of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between 2015 and 2019.

LATE CHIEF JONAH OGUNNIYI OTUNLA

CAREER IN CIVIL SERVICE

He passed out of the school in 1972 among the pioneer co-educational set that came in in 1968 and changed the school name from BBHS to BHS, Saki. He graduated from University of Ife with B.Sc. Economics in 1979 and late became Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He worked with Lever Brothers Nigeria PLC before crossing over to Oyo State Agricultural Development Programme (OYSADEP). He exited the programme as Director of Finance before becoming the Accountant General of Oyo State. From Oyo State, he rose to become the Accountant General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, where he finally retired.

MR. ISAAC ADEKUNLE ADEDUNTAN

He passed out of the school in 1971 and obtained B.Sc. Sociology from the University of Ibadan in 1979 and Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1991. Between 1982 and 2014 when he retired, he rose through the ranks in various Ministries and Departments of Oyo State Civil Service in his Public Administration career. He was a Permanent Secretary between 2007 and 2014 when he exited the service.

Mr Kunle Adeduntan is a recipient of the following Awards:

  • Commendation for good leadership and performance as chairman, Ogbomoso South Local Government, Oyo State, between 1998 and 1999.
  • 2009 Folayegbe Akintunde – Ighodalo Foundation Award for Outstanding Permanent Secretary (PS) in Oyo State, being the first PS to receive the Award in the five States that made up the Old Western State of Nigeria, where Late Folayegbe was the first female PS.
  • Follow, Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria
  • Merit Award, BHS Old Student Association

Mr Kunle Adetuntan served as the National Secretary of BHS Old Student Association for over ten years.

MR OLUWOLE OLANIYI OLADOKUN

He also passed out of the school in 1972 among the first set of co-educational students. He obtained his Diploma in Agriculture from the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training Akure in 1975 and B.Sc Sociology from University of Ibadan in 1981. He worked with the Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources between 1975 and 1978. He joined the Oyo State Civil Service in Administrative capacity in 1982. He spent most of his career years in the Governor’s Office before and after his appointment as a Permanent Secretary.  He served Oyo State Government meritoriously with accolades till he honorably retired from active service on September 11, 2008 to the glory of God.”

PROF. VICTOR FOLORUNSO OLALEYE

POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL PROVOSTS /DEANS

He passed out of the school in 1975. He is credited with MPA and PhD degrees and is a Professor of Fisheries at the Obafemi Awolowo University. He is involved in teaching and research in Aquaculture, Aquatic Ecology Fish Biology, Fish Conservation, Aquatic Resources Evaluation, Fisheries Monitoring and Evaluation, Data Management and Research Methodology for over three decades.

Prof Olaleye is a Member of OAU Senate as well as the Provost, Postgraduate College of the Institution. He is an External Examiner of PhD/M.Sc. Theses. He is also a Professorial Assessor to University of Ibadan, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ekiti State University, Ondo State University of Science and Technology, University of Ilorin.

He is Editor/Assessor to nine International Reputable acclaimed journals in Applied Fisheries and Hydrobiology. He is having fifty-five (55) journal articles to his credit. He is a Fisheries consultant to three giant establishments.

PROF. JONATHAN OYEBAMIJI BABALOLA

He passed out of the school in 1984. He obtained B.Sc. Chemistry from OAU in 1989, M.Sc. & PhD from UI in 1993 and 1999 respectively, Post-doctoral studies at the University of Parma, Italy in 2004 and University of Bonn, Germany in 2005.

 Prof Babalola is a Professor of Chemistry. He was the pioneer Provost of the Postgraduate College, University of Ibadan between 2018 and 2022.

Prof. Babalola has published more than one hundred (100) works in peer-reviewed journals and books and has supervised sixteen (16) PhD theses in addition to many M.Sc. research projects. He is an External Examiner to many Universities in Nigeria and abroad. He has also assessed publications for promotion to Professional grade in many Nigerian and foreign Universities.

PROF. MATTHEW FOLARANMI OLANIYAN

He passed out of the school in 1984. He obtained OND (Science Laboratory Technology from the Polytechnic, Ibadan in 1987, AIMLT (now BMLS) from UCH in 1995, PGDE (Chemistry/Biology) from UI in 2003, Certificate in Immunology from UCH (in collaboration with WHO Centre) in 1999, M.Sc. (Chemical Pathology) from Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2002, AISLT  upgrade in 2005, PhD in Microbiology (Classical Immunology) in 2009 from LAUTECH, Fellowship (FMLSCN) Chemical Pathology in 2017, Fellowship, (West African Postgraduate College of Medical  Laboratory Science) in Immunology in 2021.

HRM OBA MICHAEL ABODUNRIN OYETUNJI KOFOWOROLA OLAKANLA II

ROYALTY

Kabiyesi passed out of Baptist High School, Saki in 1976.  He is a PhD holder. Who worked with Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), where he rose to the Directorate level before ascending to the throne of his fathers, after his voluntary retirement from the Council. He rose to become the Paramount Ruler of Agoare Land, in Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State in 2016. It is on record that Kabiyesi is the first Oyo State Oba to earn a PhD, not as honorary title.
